The origin of Zilukha Middle Secondary School dates back to 1983 when the school was established within the campus of RBG above Tashichho Dzong mainly to cater to the children of RBG personnel. The school was known as RBG Coy III Primary School (Dekha Sumpa). Initially, the school teachers were also appointed from among the RBG personnel who knew little of Hindi and English.
In 1985, the school was shifted to the present location and came to be known as Zilukha Primary School. Since then, the number of students increased. With the few old buildings coming around the school, Zilukha Primary School saw a lot of renovation and improvisations.
In 1998, the school was upgraded to a Lower Secondary School to cater to the needs of children of the ever growing number of government employees. The school had its first batch of LSSCE candidates (Class – VIII) in 1999 with about 89% pass result. In 2011, the construction of two numbers of double storied classroom blocks with a total of 16 classrooms began. The construction of multipurpose hall and one double storied administrative building with offices, library, storeroom and staff room began in 2012.
With the completion of the addition construction, the school was upgraded to a middle secondary school in 2014. The year 2015 saw the first batch of 79 candidates appearing the BCSE Examination. Securing 100% pass result with 57% having qualified for higher secondary education, the school continues to strive for excellence.
