Thimphu Thromde celebrated the launch of the 27 new city buses, the smart cards and the mobile app Gaykid Ride: City Bus Service as well as the New Routes. These new services are Thimphu Thromde’s efforts to ensure public transport is easily accessible, efficient, reliable and sustainable.
The event was graced by Honourable Lyonpo Karma Donnen Wangdi, Minister for Information and Communications. Lyonpo highlighted that public trust in government is essential for providing efficient service delivery especially when it comes to services such as public transportation. Lyonpo also assured unwavering support from the government to continue improving the public transport system.
To start off, we will be piloting the Smart Card System on the trunk route which runs from Ngabiphu Terminal to Dangrina Terminal. To get yourself a Smart Card, please visit the City Bus Office.
